Following a successful consultation process which saw extensive engagement with local stakeholders, the planning application has been submitted to Stirling Council for a mixed use development at the vacant Crookbridge site. The proposed plans would see the delivery of a new Asda foodstore, the relocation of Pentland Landrover and new class 4 business space. Active travel links will be greatly improved with the provision of a pedestrian/wheeling bridge across the Town burn linking the site with the Springkerse Retail Park. As part of the wider City Deal aspirations NCR76 will be re-routed through the site and across the new link bridge creating a safe sustainable link to the wider network. Subject to approval, Ramoyle hopes to be on site for Phase 1 of the build in early 2024.

Once completed the development has the potential to create between 350-440 jobs (albeit some are being relocated with the car showroom and offices), as well as 80 jobs during construction.

Jim Turnbull, managing director of Ramoyle, said: “We are very pleased with the outcome of the consultation process, which generally showed support for the proposed Asda and other employment creating uses. The main issue raised with us was that of providing safe and convenient active travel opportunities, particularly cycling, and we are grateful to those individuals and groups who took the time to help us develop our proposals in that regard. As part of the consultation we undertook a householder survey of over 1000 residents where over 50% of respondents considered that a new ASDA at Crookbridge would enhance the retail offer in Stirling. Following this engagement with key stakeholders, our team has refined and finalised our planning submission and we’re excited to take this project through the next stage.

The economic benefit of the project to the Stirling area will be considerable and we hope to be on site in early 2024.”
